This program is designed for participants to gain the necessary skills to erect and disassemble basic scaffolding configurations to meet the requirements of SafeWork NSW for a basic scaffolding licence, as prescribed by the National Standard for Licensing Persons Performing High Risk Work.

On completion of this program participants will be able to communicate and work safely with others in the work area, planning out your work, select and inspect equipment, setting up for the task, erect, alter and dismantling of modular and prefabricated scaffolds, erection of cantilevered materials hoists with a maximum working load limit of 500 kilograms, use of ropes and gin wheels, installation of safety nets, use of static lines, erection of bracket scaffolds (tank and formwork).

Although a person with a basic level scaffolding is not allowed to erect tube and coupler or more advanced scaffolds (hung and susupended), they are allowed to use tube and coupler components for: - Ties, - Tying scaffolding together at corners. - Handrails. - Security of toeboards or kickboards. - Installation and security of gin wheels.

  • This training program is delivered over six (6) consecutive days, five (5) days training and one (1) day assessment at SCTS's training premises.

    Upon successful completion of this program you will be awarded:

    Statement of Attainment CPCCLSF2001A to erect, alter & dismantle scaffolding basic level. You will be issued with a nationally recognised SafeWork 60 day interim cerificate (NSA Notice of Satisfactory Assessment) which needs to be taken to an Australia Post 'photo print' shop within 60 days and a fee of $67.00 (subjec to change) paid for your High Risk licence is issued by SafeWork NSW. (SB Ticket). The licence will need to be renewed with SafeWork every five (5) years. 

  • SCTS programs are specifically designed for the construction industry. The subject is nationally recognised and can only be delivered by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) that complies with the governing standards of quality control and quality training and assessment. Assessment is based on competency i.e. ability to perform tasks to a required standard. Assessment is conducted through a combination of practical demonstration, class discussions, verbal questioning and written testing.

     

    When is a scaffolding basic licence needed?

    A scaffolding basic licence is needed where working platforms are at a height where a person or object could fall more than 4 metres.

     

  • To be eligible to enrol in this training program, participants must be:

     

    Eighteen (18) years or over.

    Able to read and write English suitable to understand the regulations and undertake the written test. Have a working knowledge of maths and mathematical formulas. (Sample language, literacy and numeracy test is available).

    Able to provide 100 points of identification, one being a current photo eg: Drivers Licence, Passport, ect. Be physically fit and not have any physical conditions that would preclude holding a drivers licence.

  • While we can support you with some English language skills, should your needs for support or assistance exceed our skills, we will refer you to a suitable organisation to assist you further, this may be a TAFE local to you.

     

    1. Participants must wear PPE at all times i.e. capped safety boots, high visibility clothing and a hard hat. 2. Participants who fail to provide their own PPE, will have the option to Hire/Buy PPE from either SCTS or other local vendors, or not attend the course. 3. Due to the requirements of maintaining a safe learning environment, SCTS reserves the right to withdraw any participant(s) on the grounds of safety. 4. SCTS is flexible in the format and timing of learning and assessment activities to ensure that we provide every opportunity for participants to demonstrate their skills and abilities. Should you need support or assistance beyond our skills we will refer you to a suitable organisation to assist you further. 5. SCTS offers support to all Participants with their learning needs. We can tailor the training and assessment program to assist people with learning issues and, to a more limited degree, personal issues. 6. Our Participant manual details our complaints and appeal procedure, our discipline policy, and our access and equity policy, including the contact for any Access and Equity issues. 

  • Any participant who is given a fail grade will be subjected to pay a reassessment fee. (Reassessment fees can vary depending on if plant and/or equipment will need to be rehired for the reassessment, how many components of the assessement you have failed as this effects the time it takes to be reassessed and the delivery of the reassessment e.g. verbal). Any subsequent fail grades will also attract a reassessment fee. 
     
    If a participant fails an assessment they can be reassessed after forty eight (48) hours from the time they failed their initial assessment. You have ninety (90) days from the date you fail your initial assessement to be reassessed. If you neglect to arrange to be reassessed within the ninety (90) days then you must re-do the entire program from the beginning and pay the program fee again. 
     
    The usual reassessment fee is $250.00 per person depending on the circumstances (as mentioned above) this amount can vary.
  • Each person that enrols into one of our programs receives a FREE Program Pack. In the pack you will receive your program learning material presented in a folder, and a personalised SCTS pen.
